Morton County Commissioner Jackie Buckley Inducted into the North Dakota 4-H Hall of Fame

The

Morton County Commission is proud to recognize Commissioner Jackie Buckley, who was inducted into the North Dakota 4-H Hall of Fame on Friday, October 11, 2025.

The North Dakota 4-H Hall of Fame Award honors individuals who have made significant contributions

to the advancement of 4-H in North Dakota. Sponsored by the North Dakota 4-H Foundation, the award recognizes those whose influence has extended beyond their local programs to impact youth development statewide.

Jackie Buckley’s career with NDSU Extension spanned more than 37 years, the majority of which were devoted to serving Morton County. Throughout

her career, she worked tirelessly to strengthen agriculture and youth programs, mentoring countless 4-H members, volunteers, and peers. Her leadership and passion for livestock judging helped shape generations of youth who went on to succeed in state and national competitions.

Beyond her direct work with youth, Jackie played an instrumental role in the Western 4-H Camp

Association, the remodel and expansion of the Western 4-H Camp, and the 2001 National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals Conference, which brought national recognition to North Dakota.

Jackie was also a trailblazer within Extension, becoming only the second woman to serve as an Extension Agent in North Dakota — paving the way for

future leaders in the field. Her ongoing dedication includes teaching Animal Science at Bismarck State College, serving as a Morton County Commissioner since 2018, and continuing to support local agricultural and educational initiatives.

Her family’s 4-H roots run deep, with her husband Sam, sons Jerry and Jack, and even her father-in-law all actively involved

in supporting 4-H through the years.

Commissioner Buckley’s induction into the North Dakota 4-H Hall of Fame is a testament to a lifetime of service, mentorship,

and leadership that continues to inspire her community and the state of North Dakota.

Congratulations, Commissioner

Buckley, on this outstanding and well-deserved honor.
