Approach Permit - Fillable PDF

All new approaches and/or existing approaches that are in need of improvement must be approved by the Highway Department. The approval request must be made on the standard Approach Permit form available at the Morton County Highway Department or by clicking the link below.

To obtain a permit, please call 701-667-7969 or stop into the office and request a form. A site visit will be made to determine the type of approach needed along with the pipe size and length if one is needed. Field conditions such as sight distance, zoning regulations, County policy and general location will all be considered in the approval/denial of the approach requested. The length of this process may be longer during the busiest time of the construction season.

The number of approaches will be limited to five per mile.

LoadPass Permit System

Morton County is joining the LoadPass Permit System for submission, approval and payment for permits to move Overweight, Oversize loads on the County Highway System.

LoadPass Permit System will replace the former system of submitting requests directly to the Morton County Highway Department.

The LoadPass Permit system is a program that is governed by the Executive Board and Truck Permit Committee of the Western Dakota Energy Association (WDEA), formerly ND Association of Oil & Gas Producing Counties.  Trip Permits and Rig Move permits are available for purchase at www.loadpasspermits.com.  Rig Move Permits are required for movement of a drilling rig from one site to another.  Trip permits are only valid on non-divisible loads.

Permit requests requiring approval will be emailed to the county officials in which travel is taking place and pending permit requests must be acted upon at the county’s earliest convenience.
