Community Programs, Resources, and Memorial Information

The Morton County Sheriff's Office offers several programs that support public safety, accountability, and community well-being.

 24/7 Sobriety Program

The Morton County Sheriff's Office is a provider of the 24/7 Sobriety Program.  The program was established in 2007 by the North Dakota state legislature and the Attorney General's Office.  Defendants in criminal cases, where the consumption of alcohol and/ or drugs were a contributing factor to the offense, may be ordered by the court to come to the sheriff's department for sobriety testing.  The court may order participation in the program for pre-trial release, or post-conviction.

The traditional alcohol testing program involves breath tests, twice a day (morning and evening).  Alternatives to the traditional program include electronic alcohol monitoring, drug patches, and urinalysis.

Proper disposal helps prevent misuse and protects the environment.

Residents are encouraged to:
  • use designated drop-off locations when available
  • follow guidelines for safe medication disposal

There is a drop off container can be found at 205 1st Ave NW in Mandan, in Morton Law Enforcement lobby next to the elevator.
