Marriage License
If you are coming in to our office for a marriage license please be to our office no later than 4:00.
Marriage Licenses:
If you can answer yes to one of these three questions you can get your license in Morton County.
- One of us lives in Morton County
- My parent(s) live in Morton County
- My marriage ceremony is in Morton County
Requirements when applying for a marriage license
- Both parties need to be present
- Valid Identification
- $65 cash or credit card (cards have a $3 fee)
- Certified Copy of Divorce Decree from most recent marriage.
(You can obtain a certified copy of your divorce decree from
the Clerk of Court in the county that your divorce took place.
The decree will be kept by our office with your application.
- If you are getting married by the Recorder you will also need
the payment for your ceremony. $30 cash for ceremony at
the courthouse. Call for price of out of courthouse
ceremonies.
Age Requirements: applicant must be 18 years of age or older. If a person is 16 or 17 years of age, a marriage license may be issued ONLY with consent of the parents or guardian. A marriage license may not be issued to any person under the age of 16, notwithstanding the consent of the parents or guardian of said person.
Ceremonies:
Nancy will officiate marriages in the court house during work hours. You will need to bring 2 witnesses with to sign the license, the county does not provide witnesses. She also performs ceremonies at offsite locations in Morton County. In order for us to schedule a ceremony in the court house we must have full payment. Certified Copies:
The fee for a Certified Copy of a Marriage License is: $5.00 for the first certified copy and $2.00 for each additional certified copy.
